 Who am I?  Most of the images in this post contain cultural elements which are of big importance in my life. I am half Guatemalan and half Mexican and I am the daughter of two proud immigrants who started their life here in Virginia. I included a picture of my mother's hand next to mine because she is the biggest influence in my life, she gave me the work ethic I have today, and without her sacrifices, I wouldn't be the same person I am today. The images of the medicine on the table are a representation of how sick I often tend to get. The scrubs laid out and the equipment next to it are a symbol of who I want to be when I grow up, I want to be a nurse. Specifically a NICU nurse. The yellow leaf next to my yellow hoodie simply represents my two favorite things which are fall and the color yellow. My main focus was to show how beat up the book was, if someone is trying to be depicted as a book worm then the book should be covered in annotation and bent up because then it is showing that it has been used.

This is my culture. Día de los muertos is a time to celebrate those who we have lost. It’s a time to celebrate the memories of the people who where present in our lives, they will never be forgotten.
